Mandolorian Loki (Loki Obyryn)

This was by far the most complicated build I have undertaken so far. In fact this character has completely taken on a life of it's own and even has it's own name, clan and backstory.

I wanted a material that would be super lightweight but still retain it's shape pretty well and be able to take a bit of wear and tear,  and so it was made from a base of cardboard with fiberglass overlaid. I had not used fiberglass on anything this big before and it was one hell of a learning curve. The helmet did NOT come out how I wanted it to at all. But as Adam Savage once said "failure is always an option!" I learned a tremendous amount and am currently making the MK2 version of this suit... which... is becoming infinitely more complicated as I've added a lot more detail. Including an actual firing dart launcher built into the wrist. Stay tuned for that one!

I sacrificed the jetpack for a sword and the armour segments are smaller than traditional Mandalorian armour, because as it's a Loki this was more of a stealth build. Which also makes more sense from a strategic point of view... send the heavy guys in front as a hell of a distraction and have sneaky mandos go around back.

I wound up creating my own clan as the other clans have fairly strict entry requirements, and as a crossover, this suit is not allowed per their rules. So I made Clan Obyryn, for all the misfit mandos.

This character has a little backstory. As we know Loki was cast out onto a frozen rock on Jotenheim, found and adopted by Odin. In this universe however, Loki was found by a Mandalorian who had strayed far off course after escaping a brutal battle, and landed there looking for supplies/water. Loki was raised in clan Obyryn, who were outcast for their belief that Beskar should be used for superior weaponry and not just armour.
